News From the NEC Show
In October we were at the NEC to meet our present and future members all week on the Huge Dethleffs Stand.
It was great to meet so many of you!!
I can now put a face to your name. You are an interesting group of people.
We met caravanners and motorhomers. You are a most interesting group of quality-conscious and active individuals. We have members who use their Dethleffs to Stargaze (astronomers rather than celebrities!). Others race vintage Norton motorbikes all over the continent. Photographers who live in their motorhomes, Caravan Club Wardens who live in their Nomad Caravan. Some of you have sold up and are 'living the dream' on the move all year in your Fortero. Others are still paying tax and grabbing every spare minute in your 'van.
The common feature is that all of you appreciate the adventure that is owning your Dethleffs.
We presented new DOC Dealer awards for great customer service (see news item). One member was being told that the RAC couldn't get a windscreen for his GlobeBus. We immediately located one for him.
Dethleffs presented 32 models on the stand. The new Sunlight range proved to be a wow with great family bunk layouts and quite a few were sold from the stand. The new range has some stunning Mercedes based Globelines as well as the new Magic Editions. See our 2009 range page for complete 360 degree walkthroughs.News:

There is a move towards island beds generally. Dethleffs have a 62 model range out for 2009. NEC visitors said that Dethleffs were the highest-quality 'vans at the show. the NEC was very successful for Dethleffs.
The big surprises were the Globetrotter XXL and Premium Liner XXL and the new Globeline range based upon the Mercedes chassis. The Esprit RT 6844 was a big attraction as it's layout looks very spacious and of course the little GlobeBus I3 had queues all through the show.
Dethleffs have also produced a van conversion 'GlobeScout' and an economy range 'SunLight' or 'EuroStyle'. The Sunlight range was a big success at the show, principally because of the great family bunk layouts for 4,5 and 6 berths.
Campy is a lightweight starter/basic caravan and Dethleffs' new Femotion Kitchen was very well-received.
Caravan owners were disappointed to find that Dethleffs had no caravans at the NEC except for the Campy. We gave brochures to those caravan owners. We hope that normal caravan service will be returned as soon as possible. We showed our photos of the superb range available on the continent and people were amazed that Dethleffs have such great products that they don't share with us.
You can import them privately as long as you don't mind the door on the other side plus certain changes to meet UK spec.
